The Bell OH-58 D Kiowa Warrior is a single-engine, single-rotor, four-bladed observation and reconnaissance helicopter with advanced visionics, navigation, communication, and weapons and cockpit integration systems. The mast-mounted sight (MMS) houses a thermal imaging system, low-light television, laser rangefinder/designator, and an optical boresight system, enabling day and night operations even in poor weather conditions.

Grumman OV-1A/JOV-1A Mohawk

The Grumman OV-1 Mohawk was a dedicated observation/electronic surveillance/attack aircraft that saw action in Vietnam monitoring activity along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, and played a critical role in Korea in the 1960’s as an airborne early warning aircraft along the Demilitarized Zone. Its existence triggered Air Force opposition due to its offensive capability — the USAF opposed the Army operating fixed wing attack aircraft, and tried to ban them from doing so.

Hasegawa’s OV-10A is a 1980 re-issue of a kit jointly release by AMT-Hasegawa in 1968. It is molded in dark green and consists of 58 injection molded parts. It has mostly raised panel lines (there are engraved lines for the ailerons and rudder), with two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and four 500-lb. bombs as armament, in addition to the four 7.62mm machine guns.

The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco was a twin turboprop short takeoff and landing attack and observation aircraft specifically developed for counter-insurgency operations in Vietnam. It was initially conceived by the U.S. Marine Corps as a STOL aircraft that would literally accompany Marines almost everywhere in the field. It could carry up to five troops, but was somewhat underpowered and rarely did so. It took its first flight on July 16, 1965.
