Bessie Coleman of Atlanta, Texas, becomes the first African-American woman to be issued a pilot’s license after completing her flight training at the premiere flight school in France, Ecole de Aviation des Freres Caudron at Le Crotoy in the Somme – managed by French aviators Gaston and Rene Caudron.
